Financial Controller – Reading

An exciting part-time opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join this expanding company based in Reading, Berkshire. The key purpose of the Financial Controller role is to oversee the Finance function within the business and provide support to the Management Team as the business looks to grow.

This is a broad and all-encompassing finance position within a successful SME business for someone who relishes responsibility and working in an international environment. You will work in a small Finance team and have 1 direct report, the experience of managing staff would be an advantage.

Tasks:

• Monitor and execute the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, credit control, invoicing, and other transactions
• Creating monthly and annual management reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
• Managing cash flow
• Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns
• Liaise with HMRC on all issues on VAT & PAYE
• Supervision and management of Accounts Assistant
• Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation
• Manage and report on all invoicing activities
• Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
• Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company

Skills and Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field
• Several years of experience in a finance role
• Experience in an SME environment
• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
• Problem-solving and decision making
• Coaching & people management
• Excellent Microsoft office skills
• Possess good attention to detail
