Planning to taking the ITIL 4 Foundation exam? – I’d like to give you some insight into the design of the course and options you might want to consider for writing the exam.
There are two ways to take the course – either through online self-paced learning or a two-day in-class or online structure. Our two-day course provides crucial in-depth knowledge about ITIL 4’s new approach that includes a holistic end-to-end picture that integrates frameworks such as Lean IT, Agile, and DevOps. The ITIL 4 Foundation course also details the new service value system (SVS) that ensures organisations continually co-create value with all their stakeholders.
There is a lot of material to digest and instruction continues right up until late afternoon on the second day. This is followed up by an exam at the end of day two. Some people find there’s not a lot of time to study because – BAM – a paper-based exam is sitting on your desk!
There are individuals who enjoy test taking (seriously, I’ve been told this!) but I don’t think too many people enjoy taking a test they haven’t properly planned for. Sweat and adrenaline aside, your brain is in overdrive – second-guessing, third-guessing, coin-flipping, and dice-rolling your way through answers.
This is why, at the end of course, many students are opting to receive a voucher to take an online ITIL 4 Foundation certification exam at a later time. They choose to take time to put their feet up, peruse the study guide, go over some areas they may have missed on a bathroom break, and maybe some keeners even get together in study groups to prepare for the exam.
Bottom line, we want you to be successful.
I urge you to think about what works best for you – the “get it over with quickly” approach or the “studious bookworm” approach. As a training organisation, we want you to choose the approach that allows you to best understand the content, receive your certification, and be able to apply your new knowledge and skills in your day-to-day work.
